Crunchyroll (Nintendo Switch app) is shutting down

The Crunchyroll app for the original Nintendo Switch stops working on October 30, 2026. The app was removed from the Nintendo eShop earlier, so it cannot be newly downloaded or reinstalled. Crunchyroll says the same account and subscription keep working on crunchyroll.com, mobile, and other supported devices. There is no Switch 2 app.

What happens to your data

This is a Switch-only client shutdown. Your Crunchyroll account, watch history, and subscription are not described as deleted; they continue on other platforms. No separate Switch data export is described.

How to save your data

These steps come from the official notice linked below. We have not run them on a live account yet.

1. No Switch-specific export is published.
2. Sign in on crunchyroll.com or the mobile app with the same account to keep watching.
3. If you delete the Switch app before October 30, you cannot reinstall it from the eShop.
